KFSR Testimonial
There are so many ways to become involved at KFSR...I highly recommend becoming involved.
I first became involved with KFSR in my sophomore year. I took a chance and dropped
by the station’s business office. I’m so glad I did!
When I met with KFSR’s General Manager, she took the time to talk with me about my career goals, including my hope of becoming a radio on-air talent. Among other great opportunities, I volunteered in the Programming Department and was able to serve as an on-air co-host during the station’s pledge drive. I was in charge of sharing information with the listeners about all the details of the pledge drive and talked with listeners who called the request line. The experience was great, and I gained valuable public speaking skills.
In my junior year, I was enrolled in a class that wrote and produced KFSR’s “Fresno State Focus: Radio Edition” program. The shows aired on KFSR and then were made available via podcast on the KFSR website.
In my senior year, I enrolled in an internship class and served in the Music Department. I was in charge of a couple of music research projects that allowed me to learn about how radio stations choose music for airplay. I learned about everything from song tempo to targeted audiences, and it was a great learning experience.
I’m thankful that I found KFSR early in my undergraduate experience. It allowed me to be involved in the station in many ways, which opened up great opportunities for me. I got hands-on experience, had really great networking opportunities and made connections with people who are still part of my life today.
There are so many ways to become involved at KFSR, and so much to gain from the experience. I highly recommend becoming involved, whether it’s through an internship or just as a volunteer. I’ll always count myself as a member of the KFSR family.
