KFSR Testimonial
I started attending Fresno State during the Fall 2018 semester. One of my goals while attending Fresno State was to be more involved in campus life. One day I was sitting outside of the Speech Arts building looking at the antennas on the roof and thought about how I could get involved with the radio station. I sent an email and within minutes I had a reply back!
My involvement with KFSR began as a volunteer. I served as an Assistant Music Director for Blues programming. I learned how to research new music and propose music adds for KFSR’s Weekend Blues programming. I really enjoyed the process of listening to new music and identifying appropriate music for the radio station. It was really cool to hear songs on the air that I helped find through research. During my time as a volunteer, I also had the opportunity to serve in the Promotions and Development departments by helping plan and execute station events on campus.
In my last semester at Fresno State, I had an opportunity for a multi-media internship that didn’t pan out. I reached out to KFSR General Manager Julie Logan and she quickly arranged for an internship for me. And even though the semester was interrupted by the onset of the Covid 19 pandemic, I was able to continue my internship with the station by working remotely. KFSR was still there to help me make it through my last semester.
Getting involved with KFSR was one of the best decisions I have ever made. I really enjoyed the opportunity to be part of the radio station, to learn about music programming, event planning, fundraising and more. I’m proud to still be considered part of the KFSR family.
